Lina used the 'Bephis Bring' spell to escape from Seigram. Later we see Zel casted the same spell to escape from the crowd ( The popular Zel/Ameria scene. What the heck. Zel likes both girls. You gotta admit that `_^ ) I guess Zel learned a lot from Lina, although he won't admit it.

Slayers vs Slayers Premium
I missed the 'old times' when just the three of them (Lina, Gourry & Zel) having their own little adventure without the other Slayers gang. Zel looks like he's competing with Gourry to get Lina's attention ^^. Ah, Slayers Premium brings back those wonderful memories. (Sometimes I wonder why the producers throw out Ameria out of the picture during the finale `_^)It would be a cool to see a love triangle between these three.:)

Zel is really worry (pay attention to his expression) if Lina's injury is his fault. Quickly he claimed "I didn't do anything!", Lina responded" I know, Zel,"

Lina was badly hit but she managed to keep up. Wow! She sure got Zel totally exited this time ^^

Gotta love the the way he looks at Lina. There are times when Zel just stares at her without any unknown reason. I find this very amusing ^^

Teasing-fights again! Zel's steady calm helps her keep a grip on her wildly emotional self, while Lina gets him to lighten up quite a bit.

Working well together. They know how to accommodate each others' needs.

It looks Lina likes making fun of Zel. And I don't think he's really mad at her anyway.They enjoy these little teasing-fights they get into.

Another teasing-fight scene. Lina loves to surprise Zel but he always knows what she's up to & enjoy each other company.

A scene where Lina expressed herself in her own way. Zel: Yeah! Yeah! I know what you mean, Lina. Lets go. This is just the way they sometimes know what the other is thinking. How can you not like Lina's expression in the final panel there? ^^

Unlike Lina's other friends, Zel's drive and determination helps Lina with her rather bad habits & scolding her is HIS job :p

Just doing his job ^^ Zel's wit and challenge also gives an unexpected edge for Lina.

Remember this popular Lina/Gourry scene? Well, if only Zel didn't switch his night watch shift with Gourry, Lina would have spend a nice talk with Zel instead & I'm sure Zel won't fall asleep.

Lina used the 'Bephis Bring' spell to escape from Seigram. Later we see Zel casted the same spell to escape from the crowd. Ah.. using his memory with Lina to rescue Ameria.

They always react the same & even have the same expressions sometimes. Lina & Zel have similar personalities, attitude stemming from the same types of thinking process. That's why they are comfortable traveling together eventough Lina already has Gourry as a partner.

Zel was the first to notice Lina wasn't wearing her bandana. Isn't she cute?

The problem with the Lina/Zel pairing is most people believe a romantic relationship between these two will never last for long because they can't deal with each other nerves & goals. However, based on what I've seen of Lina & Zel's interactions through out the series, I have to disagree. Sorry. ~.~ Please note that I'm not trying to change your opinion; I'm just trying to help certain people see past the surface ^_^

Zelgadiss may be too demanding and driven but believe it or not, his drive and determination do helps Lina with her rather unpleasent habits, which is good right? ^^ At least Lina & Zelgadiss have the advantage of understanding each others obsessions :)

They may overpower others with the sheer force of their personalities but together they can be equals and be vulnerable and honest with each other. Both are also a bit self-centered but they know it and accept it in each other.

That's why Lina can deal with Zel's complaints & tones down his obsession with a cure in her own teasing way. She knows Zel's personal need is so overwhelming that he's not paying attention to other matters much. He may gets annoyed with Lina's impulsive behavior where she can be so casual & wasting his time but he's not too foolish to realize that Lina's just trying to bring out his happiness and ability to enjoy life. The result, Zelgadiss tries out making jokes or witty remarks when he's around her XD.

Plus, I think both Lina & Zel have the ability to provide the emotional support the other needs. She diffuses situations where someone's being cruel to him. In her own indirect way, she's protecting him. We've seen them demonstrate their understanding for each other several times through the series ^^. But let us not forget that Slayers is meant to be a comedy where some actions are blown out of proportion.

But in sane moments, Zel and Lina really do care & comfortable together ^.^ Both have similar base natures where they are not too much alike & yet not too different/opposite and I do feel that this trait is one of the strongest reasons why I feel their deep relationship WOULD last.

Why Lina & Zel?

Most would assume that those who like Lina & Zel as a couple because people tend to put their favorite characters together. I prefer Lina & Zelgadiss together because the potential I saw between them, their interaction, the very few cute scenes involving Lina & Zel throughout the series ^^, the wonderful & wacky friendship they shared & lots more other reasons. `_^

However, it is clearly stated in the series that Lina & Zel are nothing more than very close friends. Lina is one of the few friends who Zel can trust & just like Gourry, Zel is willing to protect Lina when she's in danger ( middle of NEXT where Zel is a little more 'open' than he used to be). Both Lina & Zelgadiss aren't the type who show & express their feelings very much but the under that, the two care for each other. At the end of NEXT, Lina falls for Gourry & Zel does develope some feelings for Ameria.

Finally, we have Slayers TRY. I love this final season. Somehow I find TRY seems to bring back the closeness between Lina & Zel- The time they reunited again, the marriage temple, wonderland episode etc. I love every moment of it. Unfortunately as I expected , of course there's no way for Lina & Zelgadiss to end up as couple.

Anyway, there you have it. Based from what I see in the series, Lina & Zel are just friends not soulmates. For the the few Slayers fans like me, we will however continue to support Lina & Zel. My preference for Zel and Lina as a couple does not stem of any canon or any other opinion other than myself. You see that Lina/Zel fans can be open-minded & respect other bias such as Lina/Gourry, Zel/Amelia, Xellos/Filia. Plus you must also know that everybody are free to voice out our preferences. I think its' unnecessarily to bash others just because we have different opinions & preferences.

I clearly accept the fact about Lina & Zel 'true' relationship in the series but at the same time I still continue to LIKE the Zel/Lina pairing. This is something that can't be helped. I think the original pairings are fine. As matter of fact, I can even provide the arguments and evidence (with images. Heehee..) necessary to support the canon pairing, but I'm not going to do that since this a Lina-Zel shrine. :P
